Anthropos goes to Cahokia

March 18th & 19th, 2006

Welcome to the pictures site for Anthropos, Northeastern Illinois University's student Anthropology organization, and our trip to the Cahokia Mounds near Collinsville, IL. Cahokia is the site of "the remains of the most sophisticated prehistoric native civilization north of Mexico" and was designated as a World Heritage Site in 1982 by UNESCO. Located across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, Cahokia is home to not only man-made earthen structures, or mounds, but also to a circle of posts known as Woodhenge. Cahokia sits on 2200 acres and includes Monks Mound, which, at 100 feet, is the largest man-made earthen structure in North America.

On the following pages you will (soon) find pictures taken by the Students and Faculty that went on the trip. If you have pictures you would like to have put up, please email me. If you find an error among these pages (whether it be contact, code, whatever) email me.
